Research: Tribute to Instagram?

POLAROID SOCIALMATIC CAMERA

The camera is designed with 16 GB of storage, with the housing designed to look like the Instagram icon, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capability, the ability to interface with the Instagram app, and the ability to produce color prints. The project (apparently neither related to, nor officially commissioned or approved by, Instagram) seeks crowdfunding via Indiegogo, in order to be made available as a product. Instagram is also proving to be a thriving marketplace of services.

It can’t be denied, tons of people get a kick out of Instagram. In fact, the service says more than 100 million people use it every month. Unless you’re a photography purist, Instagram is fun to use if you’re creatively-inclined, and transforms ordinary photos into retro-style artistic creations that you can share with friends and followers in just a few clicks on your mobile device.

INSTACUBE
Instacube is an LCD photo frame that displays a live feed of Instagram photos. The device uses Wi-Fi to sync with the user’s Instagram account. Instacube has a few simple controls including a favorite button and a feed toggle button. A touchscreen interface allows the user to bypass a photo or freeze the screen on a favorite. Instacube is being developed by D2M, a design consultancy in Mountain View, California. The device is being pre-sold on Kickstarter, with deliveries expected in March, 2013.
